SIMPLICITY
On our road to strong compositions, and the strongest way of seeing, is simplicity. Simplicity in the compositions is one thing; another thing is how we plan and how we move out in the wilderness. This image is from Telemark, Norway, in April 2009. This was my camp for two nights, and I was in a very good position for various landscape photographs. I used my one-man tent, and the weight of the tent is only 1,5 kg. The weight of all my gear including photo equipment was around 15 kg, and I carried everything in my backpack. I was able to travel light, and move with the light. Make it simple to pack your gear, and when you come home after a trip, unpack and make it easy to find your gear again. The easier you make it for yourself, the easier it is to go out in the field. If you are more out in the field, the more good photographs you will get. It is that simple.
